Precision Air
Products’ HEPA-Vent FP Fan Filter Unit for Clean Spaces Offers Low Profile, Low Energy Consumption, Low Sound Levels
Building owners seeking clean spaces for the protection of their
employees and for protecting the quality of their product benefit from self-powered
HEPA filter.
Hopkins, Minnesota -- September 8, 2005 -- Precision Air Products has
introduced the model HEP-FP fan filter unit, an affordable means of providing filtered
air into a clean space using on-board fans to push air through a HEPA filter.
Fan filter units are used in any room requiring clean air: hospital
operating and procedure rooms, pharmacies, laboratories, clean manufacturing and workspaces.
The superior performance of the HEP-FP offers building owners minimal
operating cost, and the quietest operating sound levels. The low profile of the HEPA-Vent
FP means it fits more easily into tight interstitial spaces common above the
ceilings of clean rooms. When integrated with a Lami-Air ceiling framing system, owners benefit
from a ceiling that looks and functions as a single system, from a single manufacturer.

DESCRIPTION
Precision
Air Products offers the model HEP-FP fan filter unit, an
affordable means of providing filtered air into a clean space
using
on-board fans to push air through the HEPA filter. Supply air
enters the unit, and is filtered twice, first through a
pre-filter, then through a room-side replaceable, 99.99%
efficient (@ 0.3 microns) HEPA filter. The standard HEPA filter
is furnished with a gel-seal channel that integrates with a
knife-edge in the unit frame to eliminate filter bypass. An
optional inlet collar replaces the pre-filter, and allows the
unit to be ducted to a primary air system. In this application,
the HEP-FP is able to push air through the HEPA filter without
impacting thepressure requirements of the air handler, ideal for
retrofitting existing clean rooms, or for adding new spaces
served by existing air handlers. Model HEP-FP-RSR additionally
provides easy room-side filter change-out. A three-speed switch
controls the volume of air entering the room. The low profile of
the HEP-FP allows for easy installation in tight above-ceiling
spaces. The superior performance of the HEP-FP offers building
owners both minimal operating cost, and the quietest operating
sound levels. When integrated with a Lami-Air ceiling framing
system, owners benefit from a ceiling that looks and functions
as a single system, from a single manufacturer. Construction
trades benefit from Precision Air Products’ extensive
application experience and trade coordination capabilities,
resulting in minimal installation time and maximum performance.
APPLICATIONS
Fan filter units are used in any room requiring clean air: hospital
operating rooms, pharmacies,
laboratories, clean manufacturing and workspaces.
FEATURES
- HEPA FILTERS. Room-side replaceable, room-side serviceable
filters are available with model
HEP-FP-RSR only. Both models are furnished with HEPA filters that
are 99.99% efficient at
removing of 0.3 micron particles from the supply air. Tested to be
leak-free in accordance with IEST
Recommended Practices.
- PRE-FILTERS. Supplied on non-ducted units (no duct collar),
pre-filters have a MERV-8 rating,
are easily snapped in and out, and are washable for re-use.
- SELF-POWERED. Choice of 115v, 220v and 277v permanent split
capacitor type fan motor with
direct-drive forward curved fan. Unit develops 90 FPM (+/- 10 FPM)
average face velocity 6” below
filter face.
- COMPLIANCE WITH INDUSTRY GUIDELINES. UL listed as 2F82 Air
Filter; ISO 14644-1
Class 5; IEST Recommended Practices.
- QUIET. 48 dBA on low speed. (See performance data for details.)
- CHOICE OF MODULE SIZES. 24” x 24”, 24” x 48”. Special module
sizes are available.
- LOW PROFILE. Model HEP-FPR-SR overall height is only 14”; Model
HEP-FP is only 13”.
- HEAVY-DUTY CONSTRUCTION – housing: aluminum walk-able plenum,
motor: 80,000 hr
bearing life.
OPTIONS
- ROUND INLET COLLAR. 10” OR 12” diameter.
- INPUT POWER. 120, 220 or 277 volts.
- AIRFLOW INDICATOR LIGHT. For monitoring unit operation.
- SOLID STATE SPEED CONTROL. Replaces standard 3-speed switch and
allows for a wide
range of air volume settings.
- ULPA FILTERS. 99.9995% efficient at removing of 0.12 micron
particles from the supply air.
- POWER CORD. Provides installation and maintenance convenience.
- CONSTRUCTION. Aluminum or stainless steel.
- FINISH. Mill aluminum or stainless steel, or white powder-coated
aluminum.
- FACEPLATE. Perforated or expanded metal.
- MOUNTING. Threaded inserts (1/4”-20) or eyebolts.
- CEILING FRAMING. Factory-welded heavy-duty clean room ceiling
framing suspends fan filter
units and may also suspend fill-in panels, and lights (by others),
while sealing the room from the
interstitial space. Pre-fabricated ceiling sub-sections are factory
welded to dramatically reduce field
installation time and enhance delivered quality. Gasketing seals the
interface between structural
elements and the diffusers, eliminating the need for messy caulking.
SELECTION
Fan filter units are selected to provide the required air change rate,
and the desired room coverage.
Please refer to the Performance Data to evaluate options. In rooms where
opening the ceiling is
undesirable, specify units with the inlet collar. Otherwise, units will
be shipped with a pre-filter requiring
service from the ceiling-side of the unit. For maximum room cleanliness,
specify inlet collar and duct the
room return air to the inlet collar. Use published Specifying & Ordering
codes to completely describe
desired product. Contact your local Precision Air Products Co.
representative for assistance in selecting
units appropriate for your application.
INSTALLATION
The HEP-FP unit lid is furnished with ¼”-20 threaded inserts in four
corners for individually suspending
the unit. Eyebolts are optional, for suspending units from wire.
With optional welded ceiling framing, prefabricated ceiling
sub-sections are fastened together on the
floor of the room, forming a single ceiling system that is then lifted
into place and anchored. Fan filter
units and fill-in panels plus lights (by others) are then suspended from
the framing.
Optional installation services include factory installation
supervision, whereby factory engineers work
side-by-side with the installing sub-contractor, providing installation
training and support, to assure the
system is installed according to the specifications. Optionally, the
factory engineer may inspect and
install HEPA filters, scan test the installed filters for leaks, and
certify that the system meets project
specifications.
